Durante años, Carlos ha luchado por tener el régimen de ejercicios adecuado que lo ayude a prepararse para los combates. Probó con levantamiento de pesas, cardio, crossfit y parecía que se lastimaría más que progresaría. Luego conoció el entrenamiento funcional y se vio progresando muy rápido, cómodamente y sin dolores. Pudo reducir peso, tener más energía para realizar una sesión de sparring intensa o una sesión de pad y desempeñarse mucho mejor bajo las luces con un gran ritmo de rendimiento. Tuvo una gran carrera amateur ganando 3 títulos y peleando en un total de 5 peleas por el título bajo este estilo de entrenamiento. La confianza que ganó al saber que su cuerpo estaba funcionando de manera óptima fue impresionante y no podía esperar para compartirla con sus estudiantes, utilizando métodos enseñados e inspirados por Naudi Aguilar, fundador de Functional Patterns. Cada centímetro del cuerpo se utiliza en múltiples planos para simular cómo se moverá el cuerpo en una pelea real, creando conexiones nunca creídas posibles.

Jill entró por primera vez en un gimnasio de boxeo en el otoño de 2018 en Hoboken, Nueva Jersey. Lo que comenzó como fitness significa perder peso, rápidamente se convirtió en un cambio completo de estilo de vida y una obsesión por la dulce ciencia. Durante su primer año en el gimnasio, Jill perdió más de 70 libras, llevaba un estilo de vida más saludable y comenzó a pedirle a su entrenador que le enseñara más habilidades de boxeo para pelear y tenía la mira puesta en el sparring. Decidió que 2020 sería su año para competir y comenzó a trabajar con el entrenador Carlos y comenzó a convertirse en la luchadora que es hoy. En el verano de 2021, Jill compitió en su primer torneo y ahora, poco más de tres años después, ha tenido 17 peleas y tiene 5 cinturones de campeonato.
Cuando no está planificando eventos de su carrera profesional o compitiendo y entrenando en su tiempo libre; le apasiona ayudar a otros a alcanzar sus objetivos de un estilo de vida más saludable y transmitir lo que continúa aprendiendo.
